About Forest Grove

Twenty-five miles west of Portland, in the foothills of the Oregon Coast, is the city of Forest Grove. Home to Pacific University of Oregon and their Old College Hall (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), Forest Grove’s rich history dates back to the Atfalati band of the Kalapuya Native American tribe, pre-dating its 1840s Euro-American settlement of what was then the called the Tualatin Plains.
With a quaint old downtown, including nine historic buildings and proximity to Oregon’s wine country, Forest Grove is an area where old meets new, on a daily basis.

Local employers include the university, Tuality Forest Grove Hospital and Viasystems. Oregon routes 8 and 47 pass through Forest Grove and it’s surprisingly on Tri-Met’s public transportation bus line route 57-TV Highway, operating 7 days a week.

Built in 1922 as a Masonic and Eastern Star Home, the 77 European-style guestroom Grand Lodge, renovated by McMenamins Brewpubs is new again, with art adorned walls that tell local stories, stately columns and a winding drive that leads to palatial green lawn, several on-site restaurants and bars serve guests as does the movie theater.

This great city also holds the claim to one of the largest giant sequoia trees in the state of Oregon.
