About Sherwood

Located in the Tualatin River Valley between Newberg, Tigard, and Hillsboro, the unincorporated community of Scholls sits alongside the south shore of the Tualatin River, near the intersection of Oregon Highways 210 and 219. Primarily an agricultural area, it was named after settler Peter Scholl (a relative of Daniel Boone’s) in 1847. Once the site of the Tualatin River Scholls Ferry crossing between Scholls and Kinton, to this day OR 210 is known locally as Scholls Ferry Road.
Farmland and vineyards in the area produce some of the region’s best berries like those from Rowell Brothers farm. The 150-year-old farm, owned and operated by the Rowell family, has cultivated award-winning wines like the Pinot gris and Pinot grigio, produced by Raptor Ridge Winery.

A community favorite, check out the South Store Café – a 100-year-old historic landmark (located on the corner of Scholls Ferry Road/Hwy 210 and Hillsboro Highway/Hwy 219) – for fresh pastries, old timey atmosphere and friendly folks.

Not far from the entertainment of the “big city” or the freedom of the coast, Scholls is a tight-knit community, with excellent schools and a rural small-town aesthetic, making it an ideal place to raise a family.
