Beaverton School District High School Boundary Changes
From October 2015 to March 2016 the Beaverton School District will be redrawing its high school district boundaries. They will have the elementary level re-zoning done by December 2016, and will finish the process with middle schools. Last Thursday, October 29th, a springboard proposal brought initial changes, although it is intended as a starting point only and will certainly change over the coming months. Details surrounding the adjustment process can be found here.
These changes are taking place after Beaverton voters approved a $680 million bond measure in May 2014 to help increase school capacity and address current over-crowding. The Beaverton School District expects increased future enrollment and is adjusting attendance distribution by not only redrawing boundaries, but by building a new high school opening in Fall 2017.
In a letter to the school’s families, Sunset High School principal John Huelskamp reminds the community that while every school will feel the impact of the opening of a new high school, we are fortunate to have strong schools throughout the district serving every family.
