About Clackamas

A namesake of the Clackamas Indians (a segment of the Chinookan people), Clackamas is a census-designated place (CDP) within the greater Clackamas County.
Agriculture, manufacturing, timber and commerce have formed the basis for the county’s economic stability since its inception. It is the location of Camp Withycombe, a military base, and is also served by a branch of the Kaiser Permanente Hospital.

Being so near to Mount Hood (home to Timberline Lodge and the only year-round ski resort in the United States) is a prime attraction for living in Clackamas. The beckoning mountain and its rivers and forests offer outdoor adventure of all sorts, from fishing and camping to rafting and, of course, skiing.

With Oregon Route 212 and Interstate 205 passing right through town, the escape of the mountain and the convenience of civilization are equally at hand.

North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD) includes Mt. Talbert Nature Park, Hood View Parkand the Trolley Trail, as well as the refreshing North Clackamas Aquatic Park (great for your child’s birthday party, swim lessons, water aerobics, fun on the water slides, and climbing the 29-foot rock wall), and the Milwaukie Center.

As an added bonus for the kids 5-10 during the summer, a traveling “RecMobile” visits parks throughout the NCPRD district bringing with it a variety of craft projects, games, sports, and lots of fun under the sun.

Last but not least, the Sah-Hah-Lee Golf Course is beautiful 18 hole, public, Executive-Par 3 Golf Course. Stationed on the banks of the Clackamas River, Sah-Hah-Lee will test the skills of both the beginning and the master golfer.
